Four Perspectives, One Territory
On Thursday, October 15, the Oasis Gallery in Hermosillo, Sonora, opened its doors to Sonora, Desert and Sea, an exhibition bringing together the work of artists Salvador Corral, Daniel Rivera, Fernando López (+), and Alejandro Soria. Through their artworks, these four artists offer different ways of seeing, interpreting, and experiencing the territory of Sonora, from its landscapes to the personal experiences that make it part of our identity.
The exhibition invites visitors to explore Sonora through painting and photography, two disciplines that approach the landscape as more than a geographical space. Each artwork reflects a unique relationship with the environment, shaped by memory, personal experience, and the artists’ individual sensibilities. The desert and the sea emerge as places that evoke stories, emotions, and a deep connection to the land we inhabit.
The diversity of techniques and artistic languages enriches this visual dialogue. Light, color, texture, and material become tools for reinterpreting Sonora’s landscapes and revealing new ways of experiencing them. Each artist contributes a distinct perspective, and it is through the encounter of these different viewpoints that a broader and more diverse vision of the region emerges—one that celebrates its natural richness and explores the relationship between landscape and human experience.
The exhibition also holds a special significance through the inclusion of Fernando López, an artist who is no longer physically with us, yet whose presence lives on through his work. His participation reminds us that art has the power to transcend time and preserve the vision of those who have left a lasting mark. Sonora, Desert and Sea thus becomes a meeting point for four artistic sensibilities and an invitation to discover, through art, the memory, identity, and landscapes that shape our territory.
